Shah Faesal moves Delhi High Court against detention

Shah Faesal was detained under PSA (Public Safety Act) on August 14 when he was sent back to Kashmir from Delhi airport.

 

New Delhi| Shah Faesal, a former bureaucrat who was detained at the Delhi airport a few days ago, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against his detention. The court has sought an answer from the central government in this matter. The court fixed August 23 as the next date of hearing.

Faesal was detained under PSA (Public Safety Act) on August 14 when he was sent back to Kashmir from Delhi airport. Shah was reportedly on his way to Istanbul but was detained at the Delhi airport.

After the abolition of most of the provisions of Article 370 of the constitution granting special state status to Jammu and Kashmir, Shah Faesal had said that an unprecedented shutdown was going on in Kashmir and the population of 80 lakh was imprisoned there.

Shah Faesal, a former IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir, had resigned from his post and formed a new political party Jammu Kashmir People’s Movement and is its president.
