Shah Faesal’s resignation is an indication of lack of conviction: Jitendra Singh

New Delhi | Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday responding to the resignation of 2010 Kashmiri IAS topper Shah Faesal said that the resignation is an indication of lack of conviction.

Speaking to News Agency ANI, Jitendra Singh said,” Faesal resignation is itself an indication of lack of conviction. If you have the conviction then you should be ready to condemn the act of terrorism.” Criticising Shah Faesal over his resignation said,” You can’t enjoy the protection of security forces against a potential attack and at the same time not be courageous enough to point out at a terrorist as a terrorist but find a soft target in an Indian state which is tolerant and gives leverage to your expression.”

2010 IAS topper Shah Faesal on Wednesday resigned protesting against the “unabated” killings in Kashmir and a “lack of sincere reach out” from the Union government. In a Facebook statement, Faesal wrote said his resignation was also to protest “the marginalization and invisiblisation of around 200 million Indian Muslims at the hands of Hindutva forces reducing them to second-class citizens; insidious attacks on the special identity of the state and growing culture of intolerance and hate in mainland India in the name of hyper-nationalism”.

Faesal further wrote that he had decided to resign from Indian Administrative Service, “to protest against the unabated killings in Kashmir, and lack of any sincere reach out from the Union government”.
