“Sin To Call Farmers Anti-Nationals”: Priyanka Gandhi Taken Into Custody For Carrying Out March Despite Prohibitory Orders

Priyanka Gandhi said that the words BJP leaders and supporters are using for farmers is a sin. “If the government calls farmers anti-country, then the government is a sinner.”

 

New Delhi| Today is the 29th day of the farmers’ agitation against agricultural laws. In support of the farmers, Congress leaders wanted to march from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhavan, but the police did not allow it. Despite this, several Congress leaders including Priyanka Gandhi, Kumari Sailaja and Deepender Hooda etc. took out a march. They have now been taken into custody by the Delhi police. All the detained leaders have been taken to the Mandir Marg Police Station.

“Calling farmers anti-national is a sin”

Priyanka said that the words BJP leaders and supporters are using for farmers is a sin. “If the government calls farmers anti-country, then the government is a sinner. The problem of farmers will be solved only when the government respects them. Any dissatisfaction against this government is being viewed from the perspective of terror,” she said while speaking to the media.

Priyanka hit out at BJP govt saying they indulge in doublespeak over the opposition. “Sometimes they say that we are so weak that the opposition is not fit. Sometimes they say that we are so powerful that we have made millions of camps for farmers on the Delhi border. First, they should decide what we are?” She charged.

“Prime Minister wants to help only 2-3 people”

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police allowed three leaders of the Congress to meet President. The party wanted to submit a memorandum having signatures of 2 Crore farmers to President Ramnath Kovind. Rahul Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad met the President and demanded intervention in the case of farmers. After leaving Rashtrapati Bhavan, Rahul said that farmers, small traders are the backbone of the country’s economy. “If the agricultural system is played with, it will affect the entire country. Therefore such laws should be withdrawn. The Prime Minister only wants to benefit 2-3 people,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“Govt playing with fire”

On the other hand, farmers turned down the proposal of talks with the government on Wednesday. Farmers said that the proposal of the government does not have any merit. Farmer leader Shiv Kumar Kakka said, “The government is playing with fire ignoring farmers, it should give up its insistence.”
