While rioters were having a Scott-free run executing violence and arson in Delhi, some chose to not go by the path of hatred and let humanity prevail by helping those who were in trouble.
Delhi| Delhi witnessed unprecedented violence in the northeast area for three consecutive days. The national capital hasn’t seen violence of this magnitude since the 1984 Sikh riots. While rioters were having a Scott-free run executing violence and arson in Delhi, some chose to not go by the path of hatred and let humanity prevail by helping those who were in trouble. Here are some stories that give a ray of hope in the dark times that we face today.
- The Gurudwaras all over Delhi opened their gates for riot-affected families for shelter and food. The Sikh community has always been at the forefront of humanitarian causes. They didn’t disappoint at this time as well.
Also, aside from this – Every major gurudwara in #Delhi will open for refuge if people can’t get to their hosts or other spaces who may be further away. #SOSDelhi pic.twitter.com/RtmRH7eKas

2. In an amazing display of humanity and care, residents of Yamuna Vihar formed a human chain to escort the school students safely. Amid the tensed situation in Delhi, these people came ahead so that the kids do not suffer the wrath of violence.
This is happening now at Yamuna Vihar in East Delhi.

3. In another such incident, Muslim residents in Ramesh Park’s colony no. 10 came out of the houses in panic as the violence grew. The Hindu and Sikh residents of the area assured their Muslim brethren that if goons came to their colony, they would protect their Muslim brothers.
There were rumours of disturbances in Ramesh Park's Gali No. 10 and local Muslims came out in panic. Hindus & Sikhs assured them that they would stand with them if goons tried to create trouble. Things have calmed down. These heartening stories must be told. Ramesh Park Zindabad.

I'm now hearing this happened in Lalita Park as well. Hindus and Sikhs went to each Muslim house and told them that they are safe here. This is the India we know and love. https://t.co/mYUpcOFdO8

6. While some BJP leaders were silent on the series of events, one BJP ward councillor came to rescue for a Muslim family in Yamuna Vihar. According to India Today’s report, the mob set ablaze the Muslim family’s car and bike while also torching the boutique of their tenant. The BJP councillor, who is a long time friend of the family, came to the rescue of the family and prevented the mob from further harming the family and their property.
