‘Supreme Court is ours’; Ram Mandir will be constructed during BJP government, claims UP minister

Lucknow | After Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Maurya another minster in Yogi Adityanath cabinet has sparked controversy over the issue of construction of Ram Mandir.

Mukut Bihari Verma, a cooperative minister in the Uttar Pradesh government has claimed that the Ram Mandir promised by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Ayodhya will be built, ‘since the Supreme Court is ours’. Speaking to media, Verma said,” The BJP has come to power on the issue of development but Ram Mandir will be constructed as it is our determination. The matter is in the Supreme Court and the Supreme court is ours. The judiciary, administration, the nation as well as the Ram Temple belong to us.”

Earlier Keshav Prasad Maurya had claimed that if the Ram Mandir is not resolved by the talks and the Supreme Court, then it will try to solve it through the Parliament. He said,” I feel there should not be too much delay in the judgment, or it can be resolved through dialogue or the third option is to pass a law in parliament — that option is open too.”

A Supreme Court special bench headed by CJI Deepak Mishra is currently hearing 14 pleas filed against the 2010 judgment of the Allahabad High Court. The Allahabad High Court in its 30 September 2010 judgement had ordered that disputed land should be divided equally among three parties — the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.
