Tension grips UP’s Jalaun district after recovery of cattle carcasses

Kanpur (UP) | Tension prevailed in Uttar Pradesh‘s Jalaun district Saturday after carcasses of cattle that died in a nearby cow shelter were recovered, police said Saturday. Jalaun Superintendent of Police Arvind Chaturvedi said the cattle in the shelter, that houses 500 cows, were either suffering from different diseases or injuries sustained during road accidents.

He ruled out the incident as that of cow slaughter. A total of seven cow and calf carcasses were found in the area on Friday evening which were buried soon after, Chaturvedi said, adding the carcasses appear to be about 15 days old. The cattle died in the shelter run by Rajendra Gaudas, a local villager, the SP said. The SP said that Gaudas has been instructed to ensure proper disposal of dead cows and calves in future or else stern action will be taken against him.

Security has been beefed up in and around the village to keep vigil and ward off any incident of violence, the SP added.

Congress to hold a meeting of opposition leaders on December 10

Emboldened by the positive picture coming out of the exit polls, Congress will now be holding an all opposition party meeting in Delhi on December 10.

 

New Delhi| After the polling ended in five states, the outcomes of the exit polls on Friday evening came as a sigh of relief for the Congress. According to the exit polls of premier agencies, Congress is seen close to victory in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, however, the gamble played by KCR seems to have paid off as many exit polls predict TRS forming the government in the state once again.

Emboldened by the positive picture coming out of the exit polls, Congress will now be holding an all opposition party meeting in Delhi on December 10. The leaders of 19 opposition parties are likely to participate in the meeting. TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and DMK chief Stalin are also expected to attend the meet.

On December 11, the results of all the five assembly elections will be declared. The winter session of the parliament will also be starting from December 11. The Congress will try to surround the BJP-led central government with all the opposition parties.

According to sources, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu has also been invited to join the opposition parties in this meeting. However, whether he will be joining the meeting or not is not yet confirmed.
