New Delhi | After BJP massive victory in West Bengal winning 18 seats out of 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections around 50 Trinamool councilors along with two MLAs and one CPM MLA joined the Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP).
TMC MLAs Subhranshu Roy, Tusharkanti Bhattacharjee and CPM MLA Devendra Roy joined BJP in presence of West Bengal in charge Kailash Vaijayvargia. TMC MLA Subhranshu is the son of BJP leader Mukul Roy and had been suspended by TMC recently.

Speaking at the press conference, Kailash Vijayvargia said,” Like the elections were held in seven phases in West Bengal, joinings in BJP will also happen in seven phases. Today was just the first phase.”
Earlier during one of his rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had claimed that around 40 MLAs are in contact with the BJP and would switch sides after the Lok Sabha polls.
