TDP is the victim of a 21st-century political weapon called ‘Jumla Strike’: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday while addressing the Lok Sabha on the No-confidence motion said that the “TDP is a victim of a 21st-century political weapon called Jumla Strike”.

“TDP is the victim of a 21st-century political weapon & you are not the only one. The political weapon is called the ‘jumla strike’ first a great sense of happiness, then shock, then 8 hour long speeches,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Taking a dig at the promises made by Narendra Modi government during the 2014 General Election, Congress President said the government failed to fulfill the promise of 15 lakh in the bank account”. “2 crore youth would have daily wage employment every year but Labour Bureau finds only 4 lakh were employed,” he added.

He said “China 50, 000 yuvaon ko 24 ghante mein rozgar deta hai, aap(Govt) log 24 ghante mein 400 yuvaon ko rozgaar dete ho (China provides employement to 50,00 youth in 24 hours while our government in 24 hours provide employment to only 400 youth)”.

The Congress president also raised the issue of the controversial Rafael deal by the Modi government. ” Defence Minister said there is secrecy pact with France on Rafale deal. I personally met PM of France and asked him if any such pact existed, he clearly said there is no pact,” spoke Gandhi.

“Everybody understands and sees the amount of money which goes into the marketing of the Prime Minister of India,” Gandhi said while taking a jibe at PM Modi. He further added that “I can see him(PM Modi) smiling. But there’s a touch of nervousness in the gentleman & he is looking away from me. I can understand that. He cannot look into my eyes, I can see that because the Prime Minister has not been truthful”.

Gandhi further accused PM Modi of agreeing to China’s bidding, without discussing the issue of Doklam.

The MP’s from the NDA fumed at the allegations of the Congress President which led to adjourning to the session till 1:45 pm.

After the session was resumed Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan said, “Direct allegations can’t be made without evidence, even if this is a no-confidence motion. If Nirmala Sitharaman was named, she has to be given time to respond then and there but Gandhi should’ve yielded the floor”.”Even the biggest MPs in all my years in the Lok Sabha have yielded the floor after an allegation was made against an MP in the House,” said Mahajan. Sumitra Mahajan further added that”Since Gandhi didn’t yield, I had to promise her time to respond after.” Target whom you want but with evidence.

Gandhi also cited the report that India is the 4th most dangerous nation for women, saying “this is the first time in India’s history we have not been able to protect our women.”

Rahul Gandhi showed his concern over the increasing number of lynchings happening in the country. He reminded PM that it was his duty to make statements on such events.

He accused the government of trying to change the constitution which, according to him is a direct assault on the constitution as well as Dr Ambedkar. ” PM wants to change the Constitution, we won’t stand for it. PM & Amit Shah are very different politicians unlike any of us. We are OK to lose power, but they cant afford to lose power,” he said implementing that PM Modi and Amit Shah were both scared of losing their power.

He concluded by dramatically hugging PM Modi and saying that even if the ruling government hates him, he does not have any anger for them.
