Yahswant Sinha, Arun Shourie move Supreme Court seeking review of Dec 14 Rafale verdict

New Delhi | Former Union ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie and advocate Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court, seeking review of its December 14 verdict dismissing all PILs alleging irregularities in the procurement of 36 Rafale jets from France.

In their review plea, they alleged that the judgment “relied upon patently incorrect claims made by the government in an unsigned note given in a sealed cover” to the apex court.

They have also sought that the plea to be heard in an open court.

New Delhi | Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu raised his worry over the ongoing functioning of the parliament and its constant adjournment.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha members before the before the start of the session on January 2, Naidu said, “The image of the Parliament is taking a beating. People are laughing at us.” Urging the members to maintain decorum in the parliament, the Vice President said,” Please cooperate to see that this House functions in a meaningful manner for the remaining days and pass some resolutions. Issues cannot be dictated.”


Venkaiah Naidu statement has come after the debate over the Triple Talaq bill in the Rajya Sabha was adjourned on December 31 after the opposition parties staged a protest demanding the bill should be sent to the select committee of Parliament.
