Rahul Gandhi meets Sharad Pawar last night post BJP’s defeat in Uttar Pradesh

Sharad Pawar played a pivotal role in bringing together the leaders of different political parties to conduct a silent march in Mumbai against the ruling government of BJP

Hours after the momentous defeat of BJP Samajwadi Party and BSP in two bastions in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Congress President Rahul Gandhi went onto meet Sharad Pawar the Nationalist Congress Party leader last night.

As per the sources, the meeting was conducted to mark Rahul’s attempts to bring together the parties that are anti-BJP and to explore an alliance so as to contest the Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra in the general elections that are supposed to happen in the year 2019. Moreover, Rahul is expected to meet Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Chief Minister when she visits New Delhi later this March. Supriya Sule, Pawar’s daughter was also present in the meeting that happened at her residence yesterday.

It is quite evident that the BJP is facing testing times in the state of Maharashtra, however, the Shiv Sena has openly declared that it would prefer fighting the Lok Sabha elections alone and has already planted its attacks that happen almost every other day on its age-old ally.

It is imperative to note here that Sharad Pawar played a pivotal role in bringing together the leaders of different political parties to conduct a silent march in Mumbai against the ruling government of BJP. He may probably meet Mamata Banerjee as well in Delhi.

Rahul’s proactive initiative to extend his support to the like-minded parties has come at a time when K Chandrasekhara Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana has made a proposal to form an “anti-Congress, anti-BJP alliance” for the national elections, a request that has been extensively supported by Mamata Banerjee.
