On Thursday, the Shiv Sena (UBT) took a dig at the central government after India was ranked among the 100 most corrupt nations in the world.
The editorial published in Saamana quoted, “I will neither take bribes nor allow anyone else to do so—this was the resounding declaration made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi both before and after coming to power.
However, like many other promises, this one also turned out to be hollow. An international report has clarified that the PM Modi government’s efforts to combat corruption are nothing more than a facade. Corruption in India is increasing day by day, and instead of being listed with honour, the country is being registered with disgrace among the most corrupt nations,” the editorial read.
It further read, “The PM Modi government’s proclamations about combating corruption have themselves succumbed to corruption, which is why India’s name is being written in black coal in the list of corrupt nations.”
Further, the editorial said, “When BJP comes, corruption runs away”, saying PM Modi once gave the misleading slogan, ‘When BJP comes, corruption runs away’. But the reality is, when the BJP comes, all the corrupt run toward the BJP. Many infamous corrupt individuals have joined the BJP and been absolved of wrongdoing. Now, these people share the stage with PM Modi and sit beside him.”
According to the report, India now ranks 96th, which was earlier on 93rd position. The editorial said the global organisation that monitors corruption and transparency gave the rating.
