Sikh youths being trained in Pakistan at ISI facilities, conveys Indian government

The report further stated that the “commanders” of terror groups that are there in Pakistan are being pressurized by the ISI to execute the terror plans made by the Pakistani spy agency not just in the state of Punjab but in other regions of the country as well.

 

As per a fresh report released by Times of India, the Home Ministry has conveyed it to the panel of the parliament that the Sikh youths are being extensively trained in Pakistan at the ISI so as to conduct terror activities in India and the people of the community who are residing in Canada and in other countries as well are being provoked against the nation with malicious and false propaganda.

The Home Ministry top officials, headed by the Union Home Secretary told the Committee on Estimates, led by Murli Manohar Joshi the veteran BJP leader, that this radicalization being done by terror groups by making wrong use of the internet and the social media is a humongous challenge.

As per the report of the committee- ‘ Central armed police forces and internal security challenges-evaluation and response mechanism’ which was brought to the table on Monday in the Parliament, that some developments have taken place in the Sikh militancy groups.

The report further stated that the “commanders” of terror groups that are there in Pakistan are being pressurized by the ISI to execute the terror plans made by the Pakistani spy agency not just in the state of Punjab but in other regions of the country as well.

The report also says, “Sikh youth are being trained at ISI facilities in Pakistan. Interdictions and interrogations have revealed use of jailed cadres, unemployed youth, criminals and smugglers by Pakistan-based Sikh terror groups for facilitating terror attacks”.

On the matter hand of fresh challenges that have surfaced as threats to the internal security of the nation, the ministry in a note sent to the committee, expressed concern over radicalization of youths being done by different terrorist groups through misuse of the internet and social media.

It stated, “The problem is further accentuated by the fact that the terror groups have started using secure social media platforms and proxy servers etc. to avoid detection by intelligence and law enforcement agencies.”

“Activities of radicalised people returning from conflict areas and threat of lone wolf attack are also a challenge.”

The ministry also apprised the panel that India is still on the hit-list of Pakistan-based terrorist outfits, especially like Jaish-e-Muhammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and a faction of Indian Mujahideen aside from groups such as Al-Unmah and SIMI.

The ministry also apprised that the violence by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) carry on posing danger for the internal security situation in the nation.

The report said, “Since its formation in September 2004, CPI(Maoist) has emerged as the most potent among the LWE outfits active in the country”.
