In a disturbing incident, four dalits were allegedly hanged upside-down from a tree and beaten with a stick. This was done to them over suspicions of stealing a goat and pigeons. This incident took place on Sunday in Haregaon village of Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district. This incident came into light after the video of the incident went viral on social media. The police have arrested one of the accused , while the other five are absconding. The accused have been identified as Yuvraj Galande, Manoj Bodake, Pappu Parkhe, Deepak Gaikwad, Durgesh Vaidya and Raju Borag. The video which went viral was shot by one of the accused. As per the news reports, all four victims were in their 20s. They were abducted from their homes by a group of six individuals on August 25. Following the assault, the four injured men were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. One of the victims, Shubham Magade, has lodged a complaint with the local police. As per the news reports, the officials have registered a case under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 364 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with other relevant provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act. According to police, two of the accused men were from upper-caste backgrounds and two from Scheduled Caste. In a similar incident in Badnapur tehsil of Jalna district in Maharashtra, a 25-year-old Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death on suspicion of stealing a two-wheeler. Four people in connection with this case were arrested on Sunday. The accused were identified as Akash Jadhav, Kailash Jadhav, Kundlik Tirkhe, and Tulsiram Gaikwad. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole speaking on the incident stated that the incident was a blot on humanity, and demanded that all the accused be arrested immediately and given strict punishment. He further attacked BJP and said that such incidents are results of hatred spread by BJP for its political gain. It is neither the end nor the beginning of such incidents. In Madhya Pradesh, a Dalit youth was beaten to death by a group of people over an old enmity in Sagar district. Police have arrested eight persons in this connection. The victim was only about 18 to 20 years old. He was brutally thrashed by the accused mob of nine. And a few months back, in Madhya Pradesh another case was reported, where a man urinated on a tribal youth in Sidhi district. The horrible incident came into light after the video of the man urinating went viral on social media.
