Crorepati in a year: How IAS B Chandrakala’s wealth surged

Born in Telangana, B Chandrakala is a graduate in geography. However, she did her post-graduation in economics. It was in 2008, that she cracked the IAS exam in her very first attempt. After which she was posted in Uttar Pradesh. Between April 2012 to March 2017, Chandrakala served as a magistrate in five districts of UP. And between 2012 to 2014, she was the DM of Hamirpur when the illegal mining case happened. At a time when corruption was rampant and bureaucracy was considered a politician’s aid, Chandrakala came across as an officer with a spine. Thus, it comes as a shocker as the CBI raided her property in connection with the illegal sand mining case on January 5 among others. Of 11 accused in the case, B Chandrakala is one as well. The CBI alleged that Chandrakala gave out mining leases allegedly in violation of the rules laid down by the UP government and allowed mining even in the period when it was prohibited by the National Green Tribunal.
In this show, we tell you how her wealth surged over the years.
