India’s GDP is once again in the news. In the midst of a raging controversy over India’s economic growth under the new GDP series, the former chief economic adviser Arvind Subramaniam has come to a conclusion that the country’s growth has been highly overestimated by around 2.5% points between the years 2011-12 and 2016-17. While the government officials estimate that it has pegged to an average annual growth at around 7% during this period, but the actual GDP number seems to be something different.
