Is Modi Govt Rewarding The “Pliant” Officers?

When on Monday President of India Ramnath Kovind nominated former CJI Ranjan Gogoi to Rajya Sabha, it invoked similar reaction from the opposition that Congress faced back in 1998 when it appointed former CJI Rangnath Mishra to Rajya sabha on Congress ticket. Though the credentials and experience of the Rajya sabha nominee were unquestionable, it evoked a suspicion of quid pro quo. It made people go back in the time and look at the decisions taken by justice Mishra and the verdicts given out by him in a different light. Years have passed since then but not the tactics of rewarding those who worked allegedly in favour of those ruling , be it Congress or BJP. So when Gogoi was nominated to Rajya Sabha it was obvious that there was a big question mark on the intent behind it. Was it a quid pro quo? asked the opposition. and why opposition every other person who cares for the four pillars of the democracy should ask the question.
