No need for a separate law on Lynching, Says Central Government

Lynching, which means killing of individuals by mobs, is a public crime. However, it is not listed as a separate crime under the Indian Penal Code . Hence, information about it can be gained only from media or fact finding reports. And today the central government tells supreme court that there is no need for a separate law on lynching. As states have their own laws and orders in maintaining such acts. In many of the cases these lynchings are organised by local groups and they spread these hate filled messages through social media platforms to gather more crowd. The lynching is happening through out the country, tamil nadu, andhra pradesh, assam, maharashtra, rajasthan, Uttar pradesh. This gruesome act is spreading through all the states. Police and Courts should take an unambiguous stand against lynching and perpetrators punished at the earliest. As in the case of sexual violence, a special law should also be made against lynching and given wide publicity to make people aware of this legal punishments. And If corrective measures are not taken today, it will be very difficult to maintain any sort of law and order within our country.
