Pulwama attack: NIA investigates site of explosion

While the toll in the suicide attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama attack has gone up to 40, preliminary investigation have found out that explosives might have been used. Meanwhile, the teams of NIA and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory also known as CFSL have arrived in J&K to inspect the site of the explosion. The agency is also trying to determine why a stretch of 15 kms on the national highway which is from Pampore to Pulwama has been specifically used to target the security forces multiple times.

All-party meeting on Pulwama attack begins

The Centre has called an all-party meeting that started at 11am to deliberate upon the situations arising out of the Pulwama terror attack . In the meeting, the Narendra Modi-led government will brief the Opposition leaders about the action being taken to tackle the situations after the attack. This is first of its kind meeting held by the NDA government. It has been two days since at least 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a suicide bombing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama.

Lok Sabha elections are approaching and the opposition has been holding talks with the alliance partners. The Model Code of conduct is expected to be brought in force in the first or second week of March. And thus, political parties have started working on a war front. On Wednesday, after the end of the budget session, NCP chief Sharad Pawar held a meeting with several opposition leaders at his residence in Delhi. He also talked to Congress President Rahul Gandhi about the alliance and seat-sharing in Maharashtra.
On Thursday, the NCP chief conducted a party meeting with all the senior leaders of the party here in Mumbai. The aim of the meeting was to discuss and finalize the strategy before the end of the month.
The Maharashtra state has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats. Currently, NCP has 4 seats while Congress has only 2 seats. The alliance partners are also working out on a seat-sharing formula.
However, the core issue of the meeting was whether Sharad Pawar would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election or not? Earlier, there were reports that Sharad Pawar may contest from Maadha constituency. However, there was no official confirmation about the same from the party.
