On Thursday, the first passenger train at Bengaluru railway station in nearly 2 months arrived with over 500 passengers from New Delhi.
Bengaluru: 19 passengers who had travelled in Rajdhani Express 02692 from New Delhi decided to return back to their boarding stations as they refused to undergo mandatory institutional 14-day quarantine as mandated by the Karnataka government.
About 543 passengers had boarded the train to Bengaluru on May 12, which arrived at the Sangolli Rayanna Railway station on Thursday morning at 7:30 am. After they underwent the regular temperature screening upon de-boarding they were required to choose from the 3 options of institutional quarantine prescribed by the government.
But, about 140 odd travellers from the lot began creating a ruckus, reluctant to go under institutional quarantine and starting opposing at the station. By afternoon enormous crowds had assembled at the station platform as these travellers continued to stress the officials demanding to be home quarantine instead.
