BJP’s Amit Malviya Levels “Khalistani-Maoist” Charge Against Protestors, Targets Kejriwal

Amit Malviya

Mr Malviya said the Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government has seized the opportunity to “burn down Delhi” as “Khalistanis and Maoists” had stepped in to oppose them.

BJP’s social media chief Amit Malviya, as his party confronts a massive protest by farmers who have threatened to block Delhi and sit in on the highway in their agitation against new farm bills, has alleged “Khalistan and Maoist” link behind the demonstrations.

The head of the BJP’s IT cell, Amit Malviya, accused the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi of first notifying the central farm laws and then seizing the opportunity to “burn down Delhi” as “Khalistanis and Maoists” had stepped in to oppose them.

“Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government has already notified the new Farm Laws on 23 November 2020 and had started implementing them. But now that the Khalistanis and Maoists have stepped in to oppose, he sees an opportunity to burn down Delhi. It was never about farmers. Just politics…,” tweeted Mr Malviya, as he shared the picture of gadget notification by Delhi government to implement the farm laws.

The “Khalistan” term came into the light again last week when Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar and other BJP leaders alleged slogans of the Sikh separatist movement were raised by protesters. “We have inputs of some such unwanted elements in the crowds. We have reports, will disclose once it’s concrete. They raised such slogans. In videos they said ‘jab Indira Gandhi ko ye kar sakte hain, toh Modi ko kyu nahi kar sakte (If we can do this to Indira Gandhi, why not (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi),” ML Khattar told reporters, referring to unverified videos doing rounds on the social media.

Slamming the BJP for alleging the Khalistan link behind the protests, Shiv Sena had hit out at the party in its mouthpiece.

“The BJP is not just ruining the country’s environment but is also inviting autocracy. The Khalistan topic is over and for that Indira Gandhi and General Arun Kumar Vaidya laid down their lives. But BJP wants to bring that topic up again and do politics in Punjab. If this ignites a spark then it will be disastrous for the country,” the Saamana editorial said, in a reference to the allegations of Khalistan sympathisers participating in ongoing farmers’ protest.
