This was the second time in less than a year that Mr Munawar Faruqui’s show had been cancelled in the Karnataka capital.
Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui’s show has been cancelled in Bengaluru, for the second time, at the eleventh hour yesterday. According to the deputy commissioner of police (south) P Krishnakanth, the organisers had not sought permission.
The cancellation comes after a Hindutva group petitioned city police commissioner C H Pratap Reddy alleging that the artist had hurt Hindu sentiments in his shows by making insulting comments about Lord Ram and goddess Sita.
