2 decades after three Dalits were murdered โ€“ referred to as the Dalit Massacre โ€“ Congress leader Rahul Gandhi scripted history by inaugurating the Bharat Jodo road, which links a Dalit colony in Badanavalu with the villageโ€™s main area.

These colonies were cut off and termed disputed after the massacre on March 25, 1993. However, in keeping with the spirit of the yatra and its significance, the renovated road was named Bharat Jodo Road by locals.
