Srinagar : On 30 Oct 2021, during an area domination patrol in Naushera Sector, District Rajouri (J&K), a mine blast occurred, wherein, two Indian Army soldiers suffered critical injuries and later succumbed to their injuries. Another soldier who received injuries were evacuated and are under treatment.
Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit were brave and extremely committed to the profession of soldiering and have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of active duty.
Lt Rishi kumar was resident of Begusarai, Bihar. Sepoy Manjit Singh was resident of – Sirvewala, Bhatinda, Punjab
The nation and Indian Army shall forever remain indebted to the bravehearts for there supreme sacrifice.
According to reports, the blast occurred at Kalal forward area where a militant was killed in an encounter on July 8 during an infiltration bid.
Rajouri and Poonch witnessed repeated infiltration attempts in the last three months though most of such attempts were foiled by the security forces. Nine soldiers, including two Junior Commissioned Officers(JC0s), were killed in an encounter with militants in Poonch’s Bhata Dhurian on October 11 .
The Army launched an operation in the area to track the militants. However, no militant has been killed so far.
The Nowshera sector comes under the Rajouri district which is part of the Pirpanjal region in Jammu where an army operation has been going on for the last three weeks.
16 Corps, Indian Army, extended its deep condolences to their families.
“GOC #WhiteKnight IA and all ranks salute bravehearts Lt Rishi Kumar and Sep Manjit Singh. who made the supreme sacrifice in line of duty along the Line of Control in Naushera sector and offer deep condolences to their families,” Nagrota-based White Knight Corps wrote on Twitter.
