Veteran actor Anupam Kher of the โ€˜The Kashmir Filesโ€™ fame on Tuesday said it is โ€œshamefulโ€ on the part of IFFI  jury head Nadav Lapid to term the film โ€œpropaganda, vulgarโ€ at the festivalโ€™s closing ceremony

Mumbai:  Veteran actor Anupam Kher of the โ€˜The Kashmir Filesโ€™ fame on Tuesday said it is โ€œshamefulโ€ on the part of IFFI (International Film Festival of India) jury head Nadav Lapid to term the film โ€œpropaganda, vulgarโ€ at the festivalโ€™s closing ceremony.

Duiring the closing ceremony of the IFFI on On November 28 Lapid termed โ€˜The Kashmir Filesโ€™ a โ€œpropaganda, vulgar filmโ€, adding that he was โ€œshockedโ€ to see the film in the competition section of such a prestigious film festival.

โ€œIf the holocaust was right then the exodus of Kashmiri pandits is also right. This seems pre-planned because immediately after it the tool-kit gang became active. Itโ€™s shameful for him to make a statement like this even though he comes from a community of Jews who suffered from the holocaust,โ€ Kher told ANI on Tuesday.

โ€œSo by making a statement like this, he has also pained those people who suffered this tragedy. I would just say may god give him wisdom so that he doesnโ€™t use the tragedy of thousands of people to fulfill his aim on stage,โ€ he added.

Referring to Lapidโ€™s remarks, Anupam Kher also tweeted, โ€œNo matter how high the height of the lie is.. It is always small in comparison to the truth.โ€ The veteran actor attached pictures from โ€˜The Kashmir Filesโ€™ and Steven Spielbergโ€™s film โ€˜Schindlerโ€™s Listโ€™ with his tweet.

When Sources contacted festival organisers on the jury headโ€™s statements over the โ€˜Kashmir Filesโ€™, they declined to comment.

Released earlier this year, the โ€˜The Kashmir Filesโ€™ was listed in the line-up for IFFIโ€™s Indian Panorama segment for the year 2022.

The film is based on the life of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. It is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday claimed that โ€œPakistan Zindabadโ€ slogans were raised during Congressโ€™ Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that he has ordered an probe into the incident

Bhopal:  Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday claimed that โ€œPakistan Zindabadโ€ slogans were raised during Congressโ€™ Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that he has ordered an probe into the incident.

โ€œโ€˜Pakistan Zinabadโ€™ slogans were openly raised in the Bharat Jodo yatra. Itโ€™s shameful, Iโ€™ve given orders to probe the incident. Divisive forces are brought into yatra,โ€ CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said. Earlier that day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders alleged participants in Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra shouted slogans of โ€˜Pakistan Zindabadโ€™ in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh.

A controversy erupted after BJP state president VD Sharma and other party leaders posted a purported video of the yatra on social media claiming that โ€˜Pakistan Zindabadโ€™ slogans were raised at the rally.

However, Congress Party denied the claims, calling it a conspiracy by the BJP to defame Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo entered Madhya Pradesh on its 77th day of the Padyatra on Wednesday.

Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, will cover a further distance of 2,355 km in its 3,570-km march. It will end in Kashmir next year. It is the longest march on foot by any Indian politician in the history of India, the Congress claimed earlier in a statement.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is getting support from various political parties and social organizations across the country and the response is increasing day by day.

Notably, all the party MPs, leaders and workers, along with Rahul Gandhi, are staying in containers. Sleeping beds, toilets and ACs are also installed in some of the containers. The arrangements have been made keeping in view the intense heat and humidity with the change of places.

The Congress suffered a debacle in the assembly polls held earlier this year and the Yatra is seen as an attempt to rally the party rank and file for the upcoming electoral battles.
