New York: India strongly hit back at Pakistan yesterday after it raised the Kashmir issue in the UN Security Council, S Jaishankar said; the credibility of the UN depends on its effective response to the key challenges of our times.

India Strongly reciprocated to the Kashmir issue raised in the UN Security Council, an event primarily hosted to discuss means of reforming multilateralism across nations. “We are obviously focused today on the urgency of reforming multilateralism. We will naturally have our particular views, but there is a growing convergence at least that this cannot be delayed any further,” said Jaishankar while chairing the event.

Additionally, Jaishankar said, “While we search for the best solutions, what our discourse must never accept is the normalization of such threats. The question of justifying what the world regards as unacceptable should not even arise. That certainly applies to state sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. Nor can hosting Osama bin Laden and attacking a neighboring Parliament serve as credentials to sermonize before this Council,”

Jaishankar’s response followed the tabling of the Kashmir issue at the UN Security Council by the Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto.

Furthermore, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the credibility of the UN depends on its effective response to the key challenges of our times, be it pandemics, climate change, conflicts or terrorism.

Pakistan based terrorist Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) attacked the Parliament complex in New Delhi and opened fire, killing nine people, about eighteen years ago on December 13.

India has cleared its stance on its relations with Pakistan wherein, India has demanded an environment free of terror, hostility and violence, giving rise to normal neighbourly relations with Islamabad.
