Sreenivasan Jain Quits NDTV

Sreenivasan Jain controversial NDTV news anchor calls it a quit. In a tweet on Saturday, he announced his resignation from NDTV

New Delhi: NDTV news anchor Sreenivasan Jain, tweeted his resignation announcement.

In his tweet he stated, “Hi all. An amazing, nearly three-decade-long run at NDTV comes to an end today. The decision to resign wasn’t easy, but .. it is what it is. More later.”

Ravish Kumar, senior executives of NDTV and now Sreenivasan Jain, this is the chain of chronological resignations that have taken place post the takeover of NDTV by the Adani Group.

Sreenivasan Jain has had a history of controversies throughout his career as a news broadcaster.

He provided a 50,000 surety bond in July of last year to get bail for dubious fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, whom he referred to as a “close friend.”

He disparaged Covaxin, an indigenously created Covid-19 vaccine, in August 2021. The shocking statement he made was that Dr. N. K. Arora, the National Vaccine Advisory Group’s chair, had said that the Covaxin’s early batches ‘were not of the right quality’. He later deleted his tweet.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala once told him “I find you prejudiced. I find NDTV prejudiced against the government…The press is not a political animal. You are supposed to be unprejudiced.”

The real high point of his career, though, was when he made an effort to minimize a brutal assassination attempt on Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Ishrat Jahan.

Ishrat Jahan had only gone to carry out a little terrorist attack, hence the Gujarat police should have treated her well, the NDTV journalist had implied while attempting to enlighten the audience about the CBI inquiry into the encounter.

Sreenivasan Jain is the son of Lakshmi Chand Jain who was a political activist, writer and Devaki Jain who is an Indian economist and writer, who has worked mainly in the field of feminist economics.
