In a disturbing video recently emerged from West Bengal, two tribal women were subjected to a horrifying incident in broad daylight. The incident took place in the Pakuahat area of Malda district, though the exact time remains unknown. Both women were allegedly caught by local residents on charges of theft, and they faced brutal assault by an angry mob. The video captures the distressing scene, where some women launched a vicious attack on the victims, tearing their sarees and leaving them half-naked. They were mercilessly beaten with footwear, causing further suffering and humiliation. West Bengal BJP Chief, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, expressed his outrage on social media, criticizing the state government and the Opposition alliance for their silence and inaction on such heinous incidents. He highlighted the need for condemnation and immediate action. Local sources identified the two abused women as residents of Manikchak. Surprisingly, despite the severity of the violence they endured, no formal complaint had been previously filed with the police about the incident. The incident has been met with political implications, as the TMC leader, Shashi Panja, accused the BJP of politicizing the matter. Panja stated that a case had been registered regarding the incident and urged against unnecessary politicization. According to her, it was a case of theft where the two women attempted to steal something from the market, and some women took the law into their own hands and initiated the violent beating. The police had intervened, and an investigation is underway.` Currently, the police have detained five individuals in connection with this case. The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, highlighting the urgent need for addressing violence against women and ensuring their safety and dignity.
