Angry ShivSena Workers Challenge MP-MLA Couple Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana Over Hanuman Chalisa

“It’s already 34 degrees celsius in Mumbai, but along with the mercury, the political temperature in the city is also rising. After the Azan and Hanuman Chalisa loudspeaker controversy, it’s Hanuman Chalisa recitation that has the city on edge. The independent MP-MLA couple from Amravati, Navneet Rana and Husband Ravi Rana had a few days back announced that they will be reciting Hanuman Chalisa in front of CM Thackeray’s residence. The Shivsena on the other hand challenged the couple to do tha same. Initially, according to reports, the Maharashtra police had planned to stop them at Amravati itself. However, the couple managed to reach Mumbai on Friday morning. Since then, the ShivSainiks have been protesting at different corners of the city. A large group of ShivSena workers have also gathered outside Matoshree to challenge the MP-MLA couple. A group of women workers led by ShivSena leaders have been stationed outside Maatoshree with mallets or a blunt mace, some have carried Rolling pins to protest.

Mumbai Police on Friday, April 22, served a notice to MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana after the couple said that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree.

The couple was sent the notice under Section 149 of the Code of Criminal Procedure that allows the police to take steps to prevent cognisable offences.

The Ranas arrived in Mumbai on Friday morning. Since then, Shiv Sena workers have gathered at various locations in Mumbai, including Matoshree, daring the Rana couple to venture near Matoshree.
