CM Siddaramaiah reacts to Withdrawal of CBI Case Against DK Shivakumar
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended his cabinet’s decision to revoke approval for a CBI probe into Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s alleged disproportionate assets case.
Siddaramaiah argued that the sanction granted by the previous BJP government was deemed illegal. The cabinet, asserting that the earlier BJP government’s consent for a CBI investigation was not in line with the law, opted to withdraw the approval.

The BJP government had granted this sanction on September 25, 2019, leading to the CBI filing an FIR against Shivakumar on October 3, 2020. The CBI alleges that Shivakumar accumulated wealth amounting to ₹74.93 crore, surpassing his known sources of income from April 1, 2013, to April 30, 2018, during his tenure as the Energy Minister in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government from 2013 to 2018.
