A special court has directed the initiation of a criminal defamation case against Madhya Pradesh BJP president VD Sharma, former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and ex-minister Bhupendra Singh. The order, issued by Judicial Magistrate Vishveshwari Mishra, follows a petition by Congress’ Rajya Sabha member Vivek Tankha. Tankha accused the BJP leaders of falsely linking him to a Supreme Court case on OBC quota in the 2021 panchayat elections, leading to a civil defamation suit of Rs 10 crore.
