Union Cabinet likely to approve 3% hike in DR and DA to central government employees

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet is likely to approve the three percent hike in the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for the Central Government employees and pensioners today.

The announcement is expected after the conclusion of the meeting that initiated at 11:30 am.

This will be a welcome development for central government employees and pensioners after the government finally approved pending DA and DR hikes in July. The decision came into effect from July 1, 2021.

It is worth noting that the Centre temporarily halted dearness allowance and dearness relief benefits for central government employees and pensioners in 2020 due to a shortfall in revenue collection after the Covid-19 pandemic devastated the economy.

The resumption of DA and DR in July benefitted lakhs of central government employees and pensioners.

After the previous hike was approved, the DA for central government employees increased to 28 per cent. Therefore, the DA will increase to 31 per cent if a fresh 3 per cent hike is approved by the cabinet today.

Apart from this, A presentation will be given on the implementation and monitoring of all the projects in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi regularly holds meetings of the Council of Ministers, in which ministers give presentations on important issues. These meetings help the ministers to get the latest information about all the welfare schemes.

on September 28 last month, a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi. It was told that Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Piyush Goyal gave a presentation regarding the implementation of various projects, policies and government announcements.

Prior to this presentation, the implementation of all the projects and improving and accelerating the progress of government schemes were discussed.
