At least 52 people died in heavy airstrikes on densely populated Rafah in southern Gaza early Monday, February 12, 2024, as reported by the Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled territory. AFP reporters and witnesses noted multiple strikes and smoke rising above the city, now home to over half of Gaza’s population, displaced from other areas due to bombardment. The airstrikes targeted 14 houses and three mosques across Rafah, according to the Hamas government.
