On Tuesday, the highest civilian honour in Assam, the Assam Baibhab, was bestowed upon former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria conferred the award at a ceremony in Guwahati’s Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attending as the chief guest. The award includes a cash prize of ₹ 5 lakh and lifelong medical treatment sponsored by the government, featuring an engraving of the Jaapi and Assam Baibhav on a Hollong tree leaf in Assamese.
