22,030 Out Of 22,217 Electoral Bonds Bought: SBI informs Supreme Court

The State Bank of India (SBI) submitted a compliance affidavit regarding electoral bonds to the Supreme Court. It revealed that between April 1, 2019, and February 15, 2024, 22,217 bonds were purchased, with 22,030 being redeemed. If not encashed within the 15-day validity period, the bond amounts were transferred to the Prime Minister’s relief funds.

A day after the Samajwadi Party announced six candidates for the upcoming assembly by-polls for ten seats in UP, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday said that his party will fight the by-elections in an alliance with the Congress; the Opposition INDIA bloc is intact in the state, he added.

Following the announcement of candidates by SP, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Avinash Pande said: “As far as the announcement of seats and contesting elections is concerned, whatever decision the coordination committee of INDIA alliance takes, it will be accepted by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.”

Notably, the Election Commission has yet to announce the by-poll schedule.
