IIT Guwahati Develops India’s First Recombinant Swine Fever Vaccine

IIT-Guwahati has transferred technology for India’s inaugural recombinant vaccine against classical swine fever to Bio-Med, a biotech company. This breakthrough addresses the nationwide threat posed by the highly contagious swine fever, particularly affecting pigs in states like Bihar, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat. The vaccine’s development involved collaboration between IIT Guwahati and Assam Agricultural University, as per a press release.
