A magistrate in Rajasthan’s Karauli district faces charges for allegedly instructing an 18-year-old Dalit gang-rape survivor to strip in court to display her injuries, as per Deputy Superintendent of Police (ST-SC) Mina Meena. The survivor filed a complaint on March 30, refusing to comply with the magistrate’s request and subsequently lodging a formal complaint.
The magistrate is booked under Section 345 of the Indian Penal Code and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Vigilance registrar Ajay Singh Jatt from the Rajasthan High Court is leading an investigation. The team visited the survivor in Karauli to record her statement.
The incident stems from the alleged gang rape of a woman on March 19 by three men aged 20-22. The perpetrators abducted her from her home when her parents were absent, took her to one of their residences, and assaulted her.
A case was filed under sections 376 and 376 D of the Indian Penal Code, and an FIR was registered on March 27 at Hindaun Sadar police station through a court referral. The accused and their families are currently evading law enforcement. Authorities continue to search for them while the investigation progresses. Despite numerous attempts, the accused magistrate could not be reached for comment.
