Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 8 by the NCB in a drugs connection that surfaced in the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Mumbai| Actress Rhea Chakraborty arrested in drugs case got bail from Bombay High Court. The court, however, said – Rhea will have to submit her passport after her release from jail and has asked her not to travel abroad without permission. If she goes out of Mumbai, then she will have to inform the investigating officer beforehand. Also, she has to register her presence in the police station for 10 days.
Earlier, the sessions court on Tuesday extended Rhea’s judicial custody for 14 days till October 20. Rhea, who has been in jail for a month, appealed to the High Court after the bail petition was dismissed twice from the lower court. Rhea Chakraborty has been granted bail on Wednesday on one lakh rupees bond. However, Rhea’s brother Showik will have to remain in jail for the time being.
Abdul Basit’s bail plea rejected
Rhea was arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs connection that surfaced in the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Sushant’s housekeeper Samuel Miranda and Dipesh Sawant have also been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. While Abdul Basit’s bail plea has been dismissed.
NCB Claimed Rhea Was Active Member of Drug Syndicate
The NCB had stated in the affidavit in the court that Rhea and Showik are active members of the drugs syndicate. Section 27A has been imposed on both, so they wouldn’t get bail. Rhea had also confessed to buying drugs. Apparently, she asked Samuel Miranda, Dipesh Sawant and Showik to buy drugs.

At the same time, Actress’s lawyer Satish Manashinde had said in the court that he used to take drugs before Rhea came into Sushant’s life. Sushant was addicted to drugs. 3 actresses who were questioned by NCB too confirmed this.
Rhea Promoted Sushant’s drug addiction: NCB
The NCB claimed that Rhea knew Sushant used to consume drugs and during this time he was encouraged to do so. The NCB opposed Rhea’s bail plea, claiming that there was a lot of evidence against her which showed that she was involved in trafficking drugs. The NCB has made it clear that under a criminal conspiracy, Rhea supported the other accused for drug dealing, encouraged them to do so and also helped them with money.
