New MPs Take Oath As 18th Lok Sabha Begins

The 18th Lok Sabha has begun with the Opposition returning stronger after the recent general elections. The first session will feature the oath-taking of new MPs, including PM Narendra Modi. The NEET paper-leak issue and UGC-NET exam cancellation are likely points of contention. The appointment of BJP leader Bhartruhari Mahtab as the pro tem Speaker has drawn criticism, overshadowing the session.

48% Of Candidates Skip NEET-UG Re-Exam

Akanksha Yadav

Out of the 1,563 candidates eligible for the NEET-UG re-exam, only 813 (52%) appeared on Sunday, while 750 (48%) were absent. The three-and-a-half-hour exam was conducted across seven centres in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Meghalaya, and Chandigarh. This retest was mandated by the Supreme Court after it scrapped grace marks given by the National Testing Agency (NTA). At least 67 candidates had previously scored 720/720 due to these non-transparent grace marks.
