The West Bengal government was informed about the Centre’s discussions with Bangladesh regarding Teesta water sharing and the Farakka Treaty. Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee objected to the unilateral talks with Bangladesh. The government revealed that the Centre sought West Bengal’s nominee for an internal review committee for the 1996 water-sharing treaty with Bangladesh.
