“Deeply Shocked…”: CM Stalin On Threats To Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi

The Buldhana MLA said Rahul Gandhi wants to end reservations for backward tribals and others, and hence, he is using the language of ending it.

Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief MK Stalin on Wednesday took to social media platform X to express his concern about alleged threats issued against the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Eknath-Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Stalin in his post said: “Deeply shocked by media reports of a BJP leader’s threat that  @RahulGandhi ‘will meet the same fate as his grandmother,’ and a Shinde Sena MLA’s bounty for cutting his tongue, along with other intimidating threats. My brother Rahul Gandhi’s charisma and growing public support have clearly unsettled many, leading to such vile acts of intimidation. The Union government must act swiftly to ensure protection for the Leader of the Opposition and reaffirm that intimidation and violence have no place in our democracy.”

Congress leader Ajay Maken today registered an FIR with the Delhi police against BJP leaders over open threats to ‘eliminate’ or cause physical injury to the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

Besides, today BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Anil Bonde has said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tongue should be burnt as what he said about reservation was dangerous.

CM Eknath Shinde led Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, on Monday,  announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who will “chop off the tongue” of LOP Rahul Gandhi over his statements on reservation in the U.S.

The Buldhana MLA said Rahul Gandhi wants to end reservations for backward tribals and others, and hence, he is using the language of ending it.

What Rahul Gandhi Had Said: During his recent visit to the United States, Gandhi said India can think of scrapping the reservation system only if it becomes a “fair place”, providing equal opportunities to Indians from every section of the society.

Issuing a clarification on his remarks, Rahul Gandhi said he was not against reservation, and his party will take the reservation beyond 50 per cent if they come into power.

“Yesterday, someone misrepresented my statement that I am against reservation. But let me make it clear – I am not against reservation. We will take reservations beyond the limit of 50 per cent,” Gandhi said at the National Press Club in the U.S.
