Bengaluru Building Collapse: 5 Killed, 13 Rescued, Rescue Operations Ongoing

An under-construction building collapsed in northern Bengaluru, killing five people and leaving 13 injured. The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Karnataka. According to police, rescue operations are ongoing, and officials believe two or three people are still trapped under the debris.

The incident happened in Hennur, Babusapalya, due to heavy rainfall in the area. However, officials say the collapse occurred due to poor construction and sub-standard materials, and not the rain.

The whole incident was captured on CCTV showing the seven-storey building’s collapse. According to officials, the building had permission to have only four floors. Experts found thinner pillar rods and possible improper cement usage.

Two rescue vans were deployed, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Five others were moved to Hosmat Hospital in the city. Illegal activities at the site are under investigation.

According to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reacting to the incident said “As per the information I got, 21 labourers were present. A 26-year-old Arman’s body was recovered. In a day, 26 people work here”.
