EC Postpones By-Polls In Punjab, Kerala, UP

On Monday Election Commission of India announced a change of date of by-polls in 14 assembly constituencies from November 13 to November 20.

The poll panel stated, โ€œRepresentations have been received in the Commission from various recognized national and state political parties (including BJP, INC, BSP, RLD, and some social organizations) for a change of date for polling in some Assembly constituencies having by-elections on November 13, 2024, given the large-scale social, cultural, and religious engagements on that day which may cause inconvenience to a large number of people, give rise to various logistic issues, and may result in reduced voter participation during the poll.โ€
