700 Kg Drugs Seized In Seas Off Gujarat, 8 Iranians Caught

700 kg of methamphetamine, known as meth, has been caught off in Gujaratโ€™s Porbandar after an overnight mid-sea operation. Eight people on the boat were arrested who are claimed to be Iranians.

A joint operation by the officials from the Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and the federal anti-drugs agency Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) called Operation Sagar Manthan led to the seizure.

All eight people are being questioned to find out the sources of the drugs and where this big consignment was headed, said officials. The drugs are estimated to be approximately Rs 2-5 crore as there is no standard way to peg its actual value.

Ajit Pawar Skipping PM Modi Rally In Mumbai Sparks Controversy

Tejal Verma

On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other senior NCP leaders did not attend Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s election rally at Chhatrapati Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

NCP candidates including Sana Malik, Nawab Malik and Zeeshan Siddique were absent from the event, which featured leaders from the Shinde Sena and the Republican Party of India (RPI) led by Ramdas Athawale.

The absence of NCP leaders was visible, especially when the other alliance candidates shared the stage with PM Modi, projecting unity within the Mahayuti alliance.

Rajya Sabha member Deora said as quoted by news agency PTI, โ€ The Mahayuti Alliance is united and contesting elections with full strength. I canโ€™t say the same about the MVAโ€.
