New Delhi: Days after BJP MP Maneka Gandhi was dropped from the party’s national executive, she said she was satisfied to be in the party for 20 years and that her non-inclusion in the panel does not reduce her stature.
“I am satisfied to be in the BJP for 20 years. Not being in the executive does not reduce one’s stature. My first religion is to serve. It is more important that I get a place in the hearts of people,” she was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
“There are other senior leaders who also have not got a place in the executive committee. New people should also get an opportunity. I am aware of my duties and serving the people of my constituency is my first duty,” ANI quoted her as saying during her two-day visit to her parliamentary constituency, Sultanpur.
Maneka Gandhi and BJP MP Varun Gandhi were not listed in the Party’s national executive. It was being speculated that Varun is upset with the party and had also wrote to the Uttar Pradesh Government to resolve the Lakhimpur violence. He had shared the Lakhimpur incident video saying that it was crystal clear in the video that the car was mowed over the protestors and had also said that protestors cannot be stopped through murder.
A new National Executive committee with 80 members was constituted by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), the interesting twist was that it did not consist the name of BJP MP Varun Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi, according to reports.
Also the name of former Union minister Birender Singh Chaudhary was missing. Varun Gandhi and Birender Singh both have been critical of the contentious farm laws.
Gandhi has also condemned the incident of Lakhimpur Kheri, in which a Union Minister’s convoy ran over and killed four protesting farmers, he was removed from the BJP National Executive. Gandhi on Thursday called for “accountability for the innocent blood of farmers” as he posted a purported video of the incident.
