Delhi Riots Accused Tahir Hussain Granted Custody Parole

Delhi High Court granted custody parole to former AAP councillor and AIMIM candidate, Tahir Hussain, on Tuesday to file his nomination papers for the Mustafabad Assembly constituency in the upcoming Delhi elections.

Tahir Hussain is key accused of the Northeast Delhi riots. He has been in custody on multiple charges, which include murder, riots and money laundering under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

While granting the custody parole, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna imposed stringent conditions, barring Hussain from interacting with the media or making any public statements during the parole period.

The court specified that Hussian could only communicate with officials involved in the nomination process. Hussain’s family members were allowed to be present while he filled out his nomination but were prohibited from taking photographs or posting any content related to the event on social media.

From January 14 to February 9, Hussain had sought interim bail to facilitate his election campaign, but the court denied the request, citing all the allegations against him.

The court directed the authorities to facilitate the prompt completion of Hussain’s nomination process, ensuring that his right to contest the elections was not affected.
