Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Question PM Modi On Indians Deported By US

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday attacked the Central government on the deportation of Indian illegal migrants who were living in the United States.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relationship with US President Donald Trump, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioned PM Modi ‘why he let this incident happen.’

“A lot of things were said that President Trump and PM Modi are very good friends. Why did PM Modi let this happen?” Priyanka Gandhi said in a video shared by All India Congress Committee.

“Couldn’t we have sent our own aircraft to bring them back? Is this how humans behave? That they are sent back handcuffed and shackled? EAM and PM should answer,” she said.

“An Insult To India”: Shashi Tharoor On US Deporting Migrants Back To India

Tejal Verma

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said that the way Indian illegal migrants have been deported is an insult to India and the dignity of Indians, and he also said the US administration has no right to insult the citizens in this way and also asked the Indian government to issue a message to the US.

All the migrants who landed yesterday in Amritsar have claimed that their hands and legs were cuffed throughout their way back to India and were unshackled after the landing.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor said, “We are protesting how this was done. They have every legal right to deport people who are illegally in their country. We if they are proven to be Indians, have an obligation to receive them. But to send them like this abruptly in a military aircraft and in handcuffs is an insult to India; it’s an insult to the dignity of Indians, and we should certainly protest.”

The former Union minister of state for external affairs recalled how Colombia had refused to accept suspected immigrants of Colombian origin under similar circumstances and officially protested when people were sent back in handcuffs.

He further told the reporters outside Parliament, “You send people in a civilian aircraft, you send them normally, and we will accept them if they are our citizens, but you can’t do this.”

“The Modi government needs to issue a message, making it very clear that we accept the right of Americans to send illegal people away, but they have no right to do it in such an insulting manner,” he said.
“It is a humiliation that we don’t have to witness here in India,” he stated.
Tharoor said, “The government should take action so that this is not repeated and demand an explanation for this atrocious behaviour.”
