He asserted that should India choose to strike Pakistan, the consequences would be dire for all involved
Pakistanโs Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has once again issued a stark warning to India. This comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
He asserted that should India choose to strike Pakistan, the consequences would be dire for all involved.
The minister, in a new statement, said, โIf India dares to attack Pakistan and Pakistanโs existence comes under threat, nobody will survive in this world.โ
Asif drew parallels between the current situation and the Israeli military actions in Gaza, suggesting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies share a similar mindset in this conflict.
โIf this were to happen to usโฆ if our existence is in danger, then either we survive, or no one does,โ he added.
Previously, Asif cautioned that India might initiate a military offensive at any moment. And that it could be along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
โThere are reports that India may strike at any point along the LoCโฆ New Delhi will be given a befitting reply,โ said the minister, reportedly.
He also mentioned that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an international investigation into the Pahalgam incident.
โSuch a probe would expose whether India itself or any internal group was involved, and clarify the truth behind New Delhiโs baseless allegations,โ he had added.
A few days earlier, Pakistanโs Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed that โcredibleโ intelligence reports indicated something. This was that India is preparing to undertake military action against Pakistan within the next 24-36 hours.
In a series of bold threats, Asif had previously vowed to โdestroyโ any Indian structures diverting water intended for Pakistan. This was under the Indus Waters Treaty, warning of a potential โall-out warโ over the Kashmir issue.
The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar, claimed responsibility for the attack. But it later retracted its claim after facing massive global outrage.
India has blocked the Pakistan Defence Ministerโs X account. The Centre deemed these remarks and claims made by him as provocative.
Khawaja Asif also said earlier that Pakistan did this dirty work, referring to terrorism for the US and the west, including UK. He then said that it was a โmistakeโ. He noted that they had suffered for this.
