This is in succession to a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and amid India-Pakistan tensions
Security forces killed three terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian. There could possibly be one more terrorist within the area. This is according to intelligence reports they received.
The encounter first took place in Kulgam, but then the scene turned into a forest area in Shopian. For two hours now, the paramilitary forces and the Army have been fighting with the terrorists.
As posted by the Indian Army on X, “On 13 May 2025, based on specific intelligence of a Rashtriyas Rifles Unit, about presence of terrorists in general area Shoekal Keller, Shopian, Indian Army launched a search and destroy Operation. During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce firefight ensued, which resulted in elimination of three hardcore terrorists. Operation is in in progress.”
This is in succession to a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. India’s Operation Sindoor which followed the Pahalgam attack started an offensive between both nations. India launched multiple airstrikes at terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. Pakistan then received a warning that any act of terror will be seen as an act of war. This would draw a heavy response said India. The India-Pakistan tensions have drawn a lot of global concern.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke in an address to the country yesterday about Operation Sindoor and India’s fight against terrorism.
The PM said, “First, if there is a terrorist attack on India, a fitting reply will be given. We will give a befitting response on our terms only. We will take strict action at every place from where the roots of terrorism emerge. Secondly, India will not tolerate any nuclear blackmail. India will strike precisely and decisively at the terrorist hideouts developing under the cover of nuclear blackmail.”
“Thirdly, we will not differentiate between the government sponsoring terrorism and the masterminds of terrorism. During Operation Sindoor the world has again seen the ugly face of Pakistan, when top Pakistani army officers came to bid farewell to the slain terrorists. This is strong evidence of state-sponsored terrorism. We will continue to take decisive steps to protect India and our citizens from any threat,” he added.
