Strange as it may sound, the circumstances today make it possible.
The war involving Iran, Israel and the United States has already caused serious damage. Iran has suffered significant casualties and losses. Israel continues to operate under constant security pressure. Even the United States, despite initiating the confrontation, would prefer that the conflict does not spiral into a prolonged and uncontrollable regional war.
In simple terms, every side today has a reason to end the conflict.
The real problem is not willingness. The real problem is who can talk to everyone.
The United States and Israel will not be comfortable allowing Russia or China to mediate. Iran, on the other hand, would find it difficult to negotiate through many countries in Europe. That leaves the diplomatic field extremely narrow.
While Modi’s recent Israel visit had seemingly aligned India with the Israel and United States camp, the reality today is that Iran still appears cordial with India. That makes India perhaps the only country that maintains workable relations with all the parties involved. Not because of some carefully designed strategy by our government, but simply because of this unique circumstance.
And that means the responsibility could fall on Modi.
If he steps in, it will require maturity, intelligence and diplomacy. No events. No grandstanding.. Only careful negotiation behind closed doors. It would be a real test of his leadership and strategic ability.
It is difficult. But it is certainly not impossible.
And if Modi manages to pull this off, he would go down in history as the man who helped stop a conflict that had the potential to escalate into something far bigger.
Modi ji, kya ye mumkin hai?
