TMC member Mukul Roy on Monday claimed that 24 BJP MLAs from West Bengal are in touch with him to join the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC party.
Few days after BJP MLA Soumen Roy rejoined the Trinamool Congress, party veteran Mukul Roy on Monday claimed that more MLAs are likely to quit the BJP party and join the TMC.
“24 MLAs are in touch with me to work under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. Many more will join TMC. There is a huge line which is ready to join,” said Mukul Roy.
Mukul Roy was a BJP MLA and national vice-president, who returned to the TMC in June, four years after he left the Mamata Banerjee-led party to join the BJP.
In the last four weeks, four BJP MLAs, including Soumen Roy, Biswajit Das and Tanmoy Ghosh, have switched to the TMC.

Also, they are known to be close to Mukul Roy and had joined the BJP in the run up to the 2021 elections holding Mukul Roy’s hand.
However, the BJP has not paid much attention to what their former leader, Mukul Roy, stated.
Speaking to India Today, BJP senior leader, Ritesh Tiwari stated that Mukul Roy is “infamous for contradicting himself repeatedly.”
“What Mukul Roy says in the morning, he will say the opposite of it in the evening. He defected to the TMC and then said the BJP would win his seat of Krishnanagar if polls happened. Not taking it seriously,” said Ritesh Tiwari.
